This year has been an active and impactful for the Missouri ACC, marked by advocacy efforts, dynamic educational programming, and a growing commitment to member engagement across the state. As we look back on the past year, the momentum and accomplishments of our leadership and members stand out as a true testament to the strength and vision of the MO ACC cardiology community. The MO ACC chapter aspires to be the professional home of all members of the cardiology community across the state, and as we look forward to 2026, we hope to continue to move towards accomplishing this goal. - MO ACC Connect Newsletter – Brought to you by the MO ACC Communications committee, the monthly newsletter began publishing online in March 2025. Intended to highlight members of the MO ACC community as well as state and national level ACC initiatives, the newsletter has been well received. Contributions from all members of MO ACC including medical students, residents and FITs are welcomed.
- Multi-State Cath Conference – Utilizing the virtual platform, the MO ACC chapter has joined hands with the IL, OK and KS chapters to review complex interventional cases. This has been a wonderful opportunity for FITs to present cases and engage with experts across 4 states.
- Imaging Conference – The inaugural MO ACC state ACC conference was held in St Louis in September. It focused on amyloid imaging and was very well attended by the St Louis community including trainees and faculty. This is planned to be an ongoing series, and more events are expected in the coming year all over the state.
- Heart Disease in Women Springfield event – MO ACC Governor Dr. Toniya Singh and WIC section chair Dr. Vrinda Trivedi participated in a case-based presentation led by Dr. Jessica Birchem, Interventional Cardiologist at Springfield MO. This was first ever MO ACC Springfield event and met with an enthusiastic response from the Springfield community. The MO ACC chapter hopes to continue local events to engage with members across the state, including another event in Springfield in the first half of 2026.
- ACC Legislative Conference – Members of the MO ACC chapter led by Governor Dr. Toniya Singh participated in the ACC Legislative Conference held in Washington DC. The team learned about upcoming changes to the practice of cardiology and had the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by visiting lawmakers in the Senate and House to make them aware of the issues impacting patients and the cardiovascular community. The ACC offers travel grants to early career faculty and FITs interested in participating, and attending the conference is a highly rewarding experience.
- MO ACC Annual Update in Cardiovascular Disease – The Annual chapter was held in St. Louis in 2025. It was a highly attended meeting and appreciated for having a clinically relevant agenda showcasing expertise across the state. The day started with strong keynote speeches, case-based conferences and was followed by FIT jeopardy over lunch. The afternoon included case-based sessions designed to provide a comprehensive overview of cardiology subspecialties. Team WashU won the FIT jeopardy and will represent MO chapter at the national ACC jeopardy in March 2026 (Good Luck!). The day wrapped up with the WIC section meeting that was open to all. Discussions are already underway regarding the 2026 meeting, and stay tuned for exciting updates!
